For over 15 years, Virginia has been a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology where she spearheaded the creation of the only Fragrance Studio on a college campus in the United States and developed a specialized curriculum for the Cosmetic & Fragrance Marketing Program, which offers the only Bachelor of Science degree program of its kind in the U.S. Virginia began her notable career in the fragrance and cosmetic industry with Givaudan where she trained in perfumery and held several subsequent senior positions developing fragrances for a wide variety of product categories including fine fragrance, personal care and home care.
Sheherazade Chamlou

For the past 20 years, Sheherazade Chamlou had been part of the international sales team of Verescence (previously SGD), world leader in specialty glass packaging, where she was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Verescence North America in New York. In addition to marketing, she had sales responsibility for all accounts in North America. Ms. Chamlou holds a BA in International Business Administration from the American University in Paris, as well as an MBA from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts & Chaussees in Paris and a Masters in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Miranda Gordon
Vice President, Fine Fragrance Marketing & Evaluation, MANE
Honolulu native Miranda Gordon still feels most at home with scents of tropical flowers and leaves by the sea. She holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton University in Classical Archaeology and an MBA from Columbia. Miranda’s 20 years of industry and academic immersion in marketing fine fragrance also includes experience at Firmenich, Givaudan and Avon Products.
Henry de Monclin
President - HDM Design
Born in France, Henry began his career in 1989 at the U.S. subsidiary of the French glass manufacturer, Verries Pochet et du Courval. In 1997, Henry returned to France to lead the design agency, Ateliers Dinand, following the retirement of Pierre Dinand. Henry’s inventive Vera Wang perfume bottle design won a Fragrance Foundation FiFi Award for Best Packaging in 2003. In recent years, Henry, as the head of his own NYC based design firm, has designed fragrances for a number of brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Yohji Yamamoto, Jean Patou, Hugo Boss, Bijan, Guess, Valentino and our own, Paris Hilton, Vince Camuto, Jay Z, Jessica Simpson, and Rihanna. Today, Henry holds the position of overseeing the creative development process for all affiliates of Perfumania Inc."
Mary Manning
President, Manning Associates
Mary has led global market development teams within the beauty industry for more than 20 years. As Senior Vice President of International Development at Coty, she developed expertise in licensing, market research, new product and package development, advertising/PR and business planning for many international fragrances. Through her own firm – Manning Associates – Mary worked with international clients on branding and business building.
Additionally she lends her experience in her role as Advisory Board member and adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Master’s Program in Cosmetic and Fragrance Marketing and is frequently invited to speak as a brand expert.
Raymond Matts

For close to thirty years, Raymond has experienced and studied the multiple facets of the fragrance industry and held a number of positions from humble beginnings at the Aramis counter to fragrance development for such prestigious fragrance houses as Firmenich, IFF and notably at Elizabeth Arden creating the eternal White Diamonds scent. At the Estee Lauder companies he held the position of Vice President, Fragrances Worldwide responsible for the global success of campaigns for Clinique Happy for Him and Her, Tommy Hilfiger fragrances, Aramis and Origins among others. Today, he is happiest designing fragrance campaigns for clients around the world.
Tanya Pushkine
Communications and Corporate Philanthropy Consultant
From her family background and personal journey that formed her lifelong commitment to the arts and philanthropy and throughout a varied career, Tanya Pushkine has brought creativity, expertise and passion to the high-profile brands and clients she has worked with. Guiding companies such as LVMH, L’Oreal and Barnes & Noble to initiate, promote and publicize cultural causes while creating hugely successful fund-raisers for their charitable programs. In 2006, Tanya joined Clarins as Vice President of Public Relations and Philanthropy. There, she went on to create an entirely new platform in partnership with Lauren Bush Lauren’s FEED initiative, which she launched successfully in 16 countries. One of the highlights was a fundraising concert at Lincoln Center with performers such as NY Philharmonic conductor, Alan Gilbert, pianist Christophe Eschenbach, John Legend, The Salomé Chamber Orchestra and more with a special appearance by President Bill Clinton. Tanya is now a successful consultant specializing in creating philanthropic platforms for beauty, fashion and luxury brands.
Lyle Saunders
Creative Consultant
Lyle began his career in advertising and was hired by Chanel, Inc. in 1981 as Advertising Manager. Quickly promoted, he became Vice President, Creative Services, directing worldwide brand launches and accompanying prize-winning advertising campaigns and establishing relationships with film directors including Baz Lurhmann, Ridley Scott, Martin Scorsese and Luc Besson. He collaborated with top photographers Bruce Weber, Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts and Patrick Demarchelier. During Lyle’s watch he oversaw the launch of COCO, EGOISTE, POUR MONSIEUR, ALLURE, COCO MADEMOISELLE and CHANCE.
Bart Schmidt
Managing Partner, Brands With Purpose
Bart Schmidt, originally from Amsterdam Netherlands, began his fragrance journey at the age of 19 when he migrated to Germany to pursue fragrance and flavor education. He spent two years actively studying the industry, received his degree, and then embarked on an additional two year intense training/work program in New York. By now he had fallen completely in love with the fragrance industry, and spent more than twenty years working in the corporate fragrance development world with two of the largest global fragrance houses, Symrise and Firmenich USA. Schmidt founded Brands With Purpose in January 2013, with the goal to help companies navigate the fragrance landscape by creating opportunities for fashion, lifestyle and celebrity brands to develop and launch their own beauty/perfume lines. His connection with fragrance houses, art/packaging designers and manufacturers has already resulted in several successful launches. Schmidt’s work philosophy is guided by the three “C’s”: Connect, Create, and, most importantly, Consider - part of BWP’s proceeds support urban youth development programs.
